2021 Reflections | London Marathon, Case Studies, Bears on Tour

Thank you for your invaluable support this year. Everyone at the Fund would like to wish you a happy and healthy 2022.

Here are a few reflections...

Pawtastic Bears UK Tour

Rowlan, Hilda and Shanny have toured the country, visiting Premier League football, captaining the Isle of Wight ferry, attending the Royal Mail Executive Board meeting, working hard in Plants and Delivery Offices and much more

They raised nearly £10,000, whilst bringing smiles and hugs to everyone they met.

Success in the London Marathon

Mail Driver Amrit Garcha represented us at this year's London Marathon. Having previously completed a 10k for the Fund, we knew he had the legs (pardon the pun) to get over the line.

It was fantastic that he could start alongside 45,000 other runners in Greenwich. He completed the 26.2 miles in an impressive 4:37:16, looking ‘fit as a fiddle’ at the finish line.

With the support of friends, family, colleagues at Greenford Mail Centre, he raised over £1600.

Case study: Practical solutions in the face of adversity

A bicycle accident left postman Michael Miller paralysed from the chest down.

Unless house adaptations - such as widening doors and installing a lift - were made, Michael would have been forced into a Care Home. This would have been devastating for him, his wife and their two children.

We were delighted to support the family with a grant towards the lift and door widening. Michael is now home.
