Case study: Supporting Alan during bowel cancer

Alan is a postman at Peterborough Delivery Office. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer in June.

Following operations and chemotherapy, he was left with a permanent stoma bag.

Alan was looking forward to getting back to work when, four months later, he suffered multiple falls. This resulted in a fractured skull and serious brain injury.

Alan relied on SSP whilst awaiting a return to work date and a Universal Credit outcome.

During this difficult period, the Fund were delighted to award Alan three months’ rent and Council Tax support.
